In an age of mass produced, battery powered disposable toys, often made in conditions of exploitation, our toys are of a different quality, both ethically and in terms of play value.
Hand-made and painted, using almost exclusively reclaimed and salvaged wood, each toy will stimulate and entertain for many years, or even generations !
The story began in 1984, when GABRIEL PFEIFFER, a philosophy student in Amsterdam, abandoned his studies and began making toys from wood he found in a skip. This was the beginning of a new journey for Gabi, learning the craft of toymaking, and studying the history and philosophy of play. For many years he made and sold his toys in the heart of Amsterdam, building his reputation and business, and a network of like minded craftsmen sharing workspace, labour and ideas. In 2000, Gabi moved to Herefordshire to marry his English Rose Sally, and began again. In 2008, the business moved into a new Workshop, again sharing space and inspiration with woodworking artists and craftsmen, all united in the goal of giving joy with a clear conscience.
We hope you enjoy our products as much as we love the smile on the face of the lucky one...
